Responsible for ensuring that products developed in ChemBio vertical of Detection Division are manufacturable by contributing to specification and design of tools, fixtures, robotics, etc. necessary to reduce manpower requirements and process variability resulting in repeatable and consistent high-quality products that can be produced safely. This position works with teams and individuals in production, quality, safety, and R&D to define and resolve ECNs and maintain ISO 9001 compliance.Detailed Description:
Assist in the transition of products from Design to Production ensuring DFMA (Design for Manufacturability) is considered.
Resolve assembly, mechanical and fabrication problems – both with internal processes and those within the FLIR supply chain
Develop and maintain process and product documentation including engineering (both electrical and mechanical) data and drawings, hardware, software, firmware and manual information according to company wide ISO 9001 standards and procedures
Design tools and assemblies per engineering requirements based on sketches and discussions with personnel from manufacturing, engineering, safety, and management
Prepare 3D and 2D drawings for tooling, fixtures, robotics, and safety devices
Maintain mechanical 3D models of instrumentation
Add and maintain existing and new product production data to documentation control
Maintain revision control for complete product documentation and report findings
Manage suppliers to ensure that the needs of ChemBio production are met in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
Four-year Engineering or Engineering technology degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
Minimum of two years direct or relevant experience
Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3-D CAD software is required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with team members, engineers, scientists, both internally and within the FLIR supply chain
Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills
Occasional travel, estimated 4-8 trips annually
Ability to lift 50 pounds from ground to table top
US Citizenship required
Knowledge of various manufacturing processes including, but not limited to: Traditional Machining, EDM Machining, Laser-Cutting, Sheet Metal, Injection Molding, Prototyping, and various Coating processes
Experience with PDM or ePDM is preferred
Prior experience with Mass Spectrometers (FLIR or competitor) would be highly beneficial
Knowledge of LEAN methods
Familiarity with Statistical Process Controls for Manufacturing
