Reports To: Service Manager, Corrections

Position Summary:

This position will provide technical support for electrical control and automation systems use in the Corrections industry. The incumbent will be need to be able to remotely troubleshoot and program large complex systems including PLCs, intercom, enterprise video, networking, IP devices and other various components. Due to the number of different manufacturers and legacy systems, the incumbent will need to be a fast learner on unfamiliar products. The incumbent will work directly with customers in additional to supporting internal technicians. The incumbent will be responsible for promptly addressing customer requests and documentation of troubleshooting/programming steps taken and final resolution, escalation and/or quotation request. The incumbent will interface and coordinate with the customers, subcontractors and other internal resources for scheduling and be responsible for managing and prioritizing the remote support queue and technician assistance calls.

This position will work closely with Customers, Project Engineers, Subcontractors, Service, Sales and other Internal Departments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote and on-site support for customer support requests and technically complex service calls.

  • Document troubleshooting and repair steps taken and final resolution

  • Lead and implement hardware and software system changes on small service projects

  • Direct customer, subcontractor, internal resource communications

  • Manage and prioritize the remote support queue, technician assistance calls and small addition service projects

  • Maintain current and accurate documentation of systems

  • Coordinate service activities with appropriate parties internally and externally

  • Provide accurate account of work completed and parts utilized for billing purposes

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with policies, procedures, and standards

  • Typical job training requires field presence during implementation

  • Travel target 15%

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Skills or experience using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access

  • Ability to be creative and resourceful in obtaining solutions to uncommon applications

  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team atmosphere

  • Strong organization skills, time management, and attention to detail

  • Proficient verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast paced environment

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience remotely supporting security automation systems

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or 4+ years of experience in control system engineering

  • Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Omron, or other PLCs

  • Working knowledge of Wonderware Intouch or similar HMI software

  • Working knowledge of Ethernet networks and networking

  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software
